Genealogy Workshops

The Computer-Assisted Genealogy Group of Northern Illinois (CAGGNI) will host two events. They are free and open to the public.

The first event, Creative Memories in Digital Scrapbooks, will be held 10:30 to 12:30 at the main Schaumburg Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, on Sat. June 9th. CAGGNI's Program Director Kate Thommes will present a repeat of the program she presented at CAGGNI's January 2012 meeting. It will focus specifically on creating a digital scrapbook that will bring back memories from one or several family histories.

Bring your laptop or watch as Kate shows the tips and tricks that will make your family history scrapbook a smashing success.

The monthly CAGGNI meeting will feature Deep Ancestry: Beyond the Paper Trail, presented by CAGGNI President Michelle Bray Wilson. The program is part of CAGGNI's DNA Series. While some genealogists can claim kin back to Charlemagne, for all of us, the paper trail eventually peters out. Fortunately genetics, linguistics, paeleontology, and other sciences are opening up new ways to discover our deep ancestry. Based on last year's Genes for the Genealogist program, Michelle will show us how your ancestors' ancient migration route can be traced, and how to find where you fit in the tree of humanity. Don't miss this informative and engaging presentation, 10:30 to 12:30 at the main Schaumburg Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd on Sat. June 16th.

The 1940 U.S. Census is now available. Go to www.the1940Census.com/society and register to participate in indexing with CAGGNI.
