Perryman closes in on Elgin record
Elgin senior Hannah Perryman inched ever closer to becoming the Maroons’ all-time strikeout leader Saturday despite her team’s tough 1-0 loss to Lemont at the Stone City Jamboree in Minooka.
Perryman, who had Elgin’s only hit in the loss, struck out 13 batters in Saturday’s game, giving her 358 strikeouts this season and 826 for her career. Already the single-season leader, Perryman now needs just 10 Ks to tie Elizabeth Waller’s Elgin career record. Perryman and the Maroons (20-11) play Schaumburg Wednesday in the Class 4A Elk Grove regional.
Bartlett falls twice: The Hawks (26-8) lost 2-0 to Lockport and 5-2 to Belleville East at Stone City. Bartlett has now lost 5 of its last 6 games. Tori Burke allowed just 2 hits in 4 innings against Lockport and had 5 strikeouts, while Amanda Montbriand (8-2) suffered the loss against Belleville. Alex Morales had a double and Kayla Haberstich hit a home run for the Hawks.
Streamwood 6, Fenton 5: Kaylee Jambor was 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and winning pitcher Katelyn Hedger had 2 RBI to lead Streamwood (10-21).
Huntley 2-1 at Freeport: Huntley defeated LaSalle-Peru 9-0 and Johnsburg 11-7 before losing to Freeport 4-3 at the Freeport quad. Haley Spannraft picked up a win and a loss and Bailey O’Rilley a win for the Red Raiders (10-22). Randi Peterson had 4 hits, including 3 doubles, and 8 RBI on the day for Huntley.
