Wolff’s Flea Market brings another farmers market to Palatine
Palatine soon will have two farmers markets at which to shop.
In addition to the village’s official Palatine Farmers Market, a longtime Saturday morning staple outside the Metra station, patrons can head over to the Wolff Flea Market.
The village council this week approved Wolff’s proposal to set up a farmers market in the parking lot of the former Menard’s building at 1775 N. Rand Road, which it’s leasing through March 2013.
The Wolff market will operate 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The village’s farmers market, which runs 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, already is up and running for the season.
Wolff’s representatives said the market will feature only vendors that sell produce and food products. To participate, vendors must obtain the required licensing and permitting from the village’s environmental health division.
Palatine officials also requested Wolff’s vendors limit sales to whole, uncut produce and prepackaged foods.
