May Hometown Hero named for Round Lake area

Round Lake Area Exchange Club has named U.S. Marine Cpl. John Seminary as its Hometown Hero for May.

Seminary is a Round Lake Park resident and 2008 graduate of Grayslake North High School. Seminary was nominated for this honor by a family friend, Bruce Johnson, who was present at his homecoming in April.

Military recognition for Seminary includes rifle expert, sea service deployment ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, global war on terrorism service medal, Afghanistan campaign medal and combat action ribbon.

Exchange Club members expect Seminary to receive his Hometown Hero award at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Panera Bread in Round Lake Beach.

He’ll receive his “Hanging with the Heroes” care package through the mail after he reports back to work

All care packages are delivered with a personalized T-shirt and letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students.

Any military personnel serving overseas or in the United States from the Round Lakes, Hainesville, Fox Lake or Ingleside qualify for the program. Check out rlaexchange.org/hero.
