Auditions for Schaumburg Park District dance companies June 5

Lace up your dancing shoes and head for the barre.

Schaumburg Park District will hold auditions for Expressions and Charmed Dance Companies June 5 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Charmed Dance Company auditions will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. while Expressions Dance Company auditions will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The award-winning Expressions Dance Company for dancers ages 9 and older performs at community and Park District events throughout the year. Some members will attend dance conventions and competitions.

"Expressions Dance Company has been a great addition to the Schaumburg School of Dance this past year," said Cultural Arts Supervisor Beth Waller. "The dancers are able to practice and improve their techniques by going beyond their dance classes."

Charmed Dance Company, a new troupe for dancers ages 6 to 8, will prepare younger children for Expressions Dance Company and also gives the opportunity to perform at events and competitions.

"The new dance company will help the tiniest dancers advance their technique and show them how fun dance is," said Waller.

Dancers must be at auditions the entire time. Those auditioning should wear appropriate dance attire and shoes. Both companies require dancers to audition for placement. If dancers are unable to audition during schedule times, contact the dance coordinator at (847) 490-7015.
