Tentative teachers contract reached in Dist. 204
Indian Prairie District 204 and its teachers union have reached a tentative agreement on a two-year contract.
Details of the tentative agreement have not yet been presented to members of the Indian Prairie Education Association, but once contract terms are shared with the union, they will be made public, school board President Curt Bradshaw said Saturday.
The union is scheduled to vote on the contract Thursday, May 24. If the contract is approved, it will be up for a school board vote June 4.
Facing an $8.6 million budget deficit, the district last month announced plans to lay off 160 full- and part-time employees. School board members said in April they anticipate hiring back about 80 of those employees to fill positions left open from retirements and attrition.
District 204 serves portions of Aurora, Bolingbrook, Naperville and Plainfield.
