Stevenson takes 3rd at GBN: Stevenson slipped by North Suburban Conference foe Vernon Hills 20-25, 30-28, 25-22 to take third place at the Glenbrook North Tournament.

In the third-place game, Brad Tiller rolled up a team-high 12 kills to lead the Patriots, who move to 26-3 overall. Stevenson also got 9 kills out of Mitch Robinson, 30 assists from setter Jonah May and a team-leading 10 digs from Robbie Redman.

Vernon Hills, which drops to 22-4, got a big weekend out of senior hitters Martin Niemczewski and Thomas Robinson, both of whom had 40-plus kills over a total of five matches. Meanwhile, sophomore Michael Heinz shined on defense for the Cougars with 37 digs over the five matches.

Lake Forest goes 2-2 at York: Lake Forest defeated Proviso West (25-20, 25-17) and Hoffman Estates (27-26, 25-23) at the York Tournament but lost to Hinsdale Central (25-16, 17-25, 8-15) and Andrew (14-25, 25-20, 16-18). Harry Funk led the way with a total of 23 kills, 3 blocks and 16 digs for Libertyville.
