Cary to sponsor teen Battle of Bands

Submitted by Cary Park District

Eight local teen bands will be showing off their talents in the Battle of the Bands competition, hosted by the Cary Park District and Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium. The competition will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park, Cary. Admission to the event is free.

The competition gives local musicians a way to showcase their talents onstage in front of an audience. The winning band is decided by a panel of judges and will move on to compete in the regional competition in July. The winner of regionals will move on to compete in the state contest in Springfield this August.

The eight bands scheduled to perform are A Secret, B.E.K., Classified Information, Dead Authority, TBD, The Molly MaGuires, U and What Army? and The University. Band members are between the ages of 12 and 21. Each band will have approximately 20 to 30 minutes to perform and the winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event.
