L-Way North wins Libertyville Invitational
Lincoln-Way North’s boys volleyball team captured the Libertyville invitational Saturday.
Carmel Catholic was second, followed by Libertyville and Prospecrt.
Lincoln-Way North outlasted Libertyville 25-19, 19-25, 15-13 in the semifinals.
Libertyville’s statistical leaders in the invite included Brandon Leatherwood with 31 kills and 18 digs, Rob St. Claire with 7 aces, Teddy Kopacz with 123 assists and Stefan Vidovich with 19 blocks. Tyler Erlandson had 26 kills, 15 digs and 9 blocks for the Wildcats. Vidovich and St. Claire pounded 24 and 23 kills, respectively.
At Benet: Mundelein salvaged one match in the two-day invitational.
After two-game losses to Benet, Naperville Central, Waubonsie Valley and St. Francis, the Mustangs defeated Morton 25-20, 25-19.
Corey Flores and Parker Tortorello pounded 20 and 19 kills, respectively, for Mundelein (12-17). David Everding served 9 aces, while Victor Magana was 216-of-223 setting with 71 assists.
Stevenson d. Lakes: On Friday night, Patriots won their 20th match of the season with a 25-10, 25-14 decision over the Eagles in North Suburban Conference action.
Stevenson (20-2, 5-0) was led on attack by Collin Ryan with 7 kills, Jason Fleischman with six and Mitch Robinson with five. Aaron Appelbaum and Ryan served 3 and 2 aces, respectively, for the Patriots. Jonah May lofted 15 assists, and Robbie Redman had 6 digs.
