Stevenson nets title at Palatine

Brad Tiller and Jason Fleischman pounded 9 and 5 kills apiece, respectively, as Stevenson’s boys volleyball team captured the championship of the Palatine invitational with a 25-21, 25-18 win over conference-rival Libertyville on Saturday.

Tiller and Fleischman each earned spots on the all-tournament team.

Jonah May dished out 19 assists in the finale for Stevenson, which won all five of its matches in the two-day tourney to improve to 18-2. Collin Ryan added 4 kills, and Robbie Redman served 2 aces and recorded a team-best 10 digs

The Patriots also defeated West Aurora (25-21, 25-20) and Palatine (25-21, 25-19) on Saturday. Tiller had 9 kills against West Aurora, and he and Fleischman each had seven in the Palatine match.

Libertyville was led by Brandon Leatherwood’s 31 kills in the Wildcats’ five matches.
