Train with the Hockey Pros at the Triphahn Center this Summer
This summer, hockey players across Chicagoland can train with such hockey professionals as Wendall Young, Mark Brunner, Josh Burrows, Adam Krug and speed skating champion Frank Filardi, during one of many hockey camps taking place at the Hoffman Estates Park District's Triphahn Center and Ice Arena.
“We're combining great training by some very accomplished coaches and players with a fun positive environment,” said Randy Jordan, Assistant General Manager of Ice Operations at the Triphahn Center. “The kids are sure to have an enjoyable summer and accelerate their skills too.”
The program is managed by Randy Jordan, Assistant General Manager of Ice Operations, who has been coaching for more than 38 years and was instrumental in establishing the Wolf Pack Hockey Club for the Hoffman Estates Park District.
The professionals who are offering summer camps at the Triphahn Center include:
Wendall Young, General Manager of the Chicago Wolves, will offer the “School of Goaltending”. Young has been offering goaltending school for 18 years and has more than 25 years of coaching experience. His career includes 10 years as a player in the NHL and seven years with the Chicago Wolves. He holds the distinction of being the only player to win four cups: two Stanley Cups and two Turner Cups.
Mark Brunner, has coached for more than 22 years and his teams have won four State Championships on three different levels; 12 President's Cups and six league tournament titles. As a Tier 1 player in Illinois, Mark played on teams which won a National Championship, five state championships and four Silver Stick titles. These along with numerous Canadian championships were attained while playing for the Chicago Minor Hawks and the first teams at Team Illinois. Brunner will offer several summer camps for players of all skill levels, including development camps for beginners and pre-season warm-up camps for seasoned players in August.
Josh Burrows, a player formerly with the Chicago Express and currently with the Gwinnett Gladiators, will offer Champion's Edge Summer Camp along with Kristen Olychuck, a former goaltender for the Swedish Women's Hockey Team Leksands IF of Dam Riksserien and expert off ice trainer. This dynamic pair's weeklong camp programs provide a complete package of on and off-ice instruction.
Adam Krug, principal coach of NLPD, been playing, coaching, training and teaching players for 10 years, and developed the NLPD program. He plays professionally in Europe, and in the off season he coaches AAA teams with his father in Detroit. More than 100 of the players that have participated in the program have reached hockey's most elite levels including the NHL and NCAA D-I. Krug brings his Next Level Player Development Camp to the Triphahn Center in July.
Frank Filardi is a World-class level speed skating champion and bike racer and renowned teacher and coach. Frank brings his experience and skills to the Triphahn Center's Wolf Pack program to help players improve speed on the ice with his Speed, Power and Agility Camp.
Randy Jordan has been coaching hockey for more than 38 years. He is a USA Hockey Masters Level coach that was named Coach of the Year in 2007 by the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, and has won many championships as a coach and also a player from captain in junior hockey in Canada to playing in various upper level men's leagues. Jordan has been coaching all levels from House, Junior, college and pro camps since he was 16 and has a passion to help players learn the skills to enjoy the game as he has over the years. He started the successful Overspeed Hockey Schools in 1998 and in 2004 joined the Hoffman Estates Park District where he developed the Wolf Pack Hockey Club to provide specialty hockey training to the surrounding area.

More about the Wolf Pack Hockey Club
The WPHC of the Hoffman Estates Park District is a Tier III club playing in the Northwest Hockey League (NWHL), and Tier II club playing in Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL).
Since its inception in 2004 the Wolf Pack Hockey Club has become among the largest participating teams and player membership in the Northwest Hockey League. Exploding player registration numbers, a continued growth of existing players, and a focus on five skill advancement, has created the need for new levels for the more experienced, focused and skilled players that for various reasons, proximity, training methods and program philosophy may continue playing for the Wolf Pack Hockey Club.
In 2010-11, its first and probationary year at NIHL, the Wolf Pack fielded three teams. All teams were placed at the Silver level, and each team finished in the top 5 of the top tier, two won the President's Cup, and one finished second in the Blackhawk Cup. Following the 2010-2011 season, the Wolf Pack Hockey Club was approved a full Tier II program.
The WPHC has established a development philosophy that depends upon and prides itself on organic growth. The developmental program is responsible for starting hundreds of new hockey players with a solid hockey foundation recognized by USA Hockey. The Hoffman Estates Park District made a sizeable investment in “one goal” equipment, the training of a number of focused coaches in a systematic (SUMO) process of development. The belief is that more well trained coaches and ice time engages, creates faster enjoyment and commitment to the sport, which has seen numbers go beyond any imaginable estimates.
