Vista to Host Health Fair & Fashion Show, May 10
Women of all ages are invited to celebrate Mother’s Day a few days early so they can attend a free health fair and fashion show on Thursday evening, May 10, at Gurnee Mills. The event, called “Ladies’ Night Out,” is hosted by Vista Health System as a fun, festive way to focus attention on three critical areas of women’s health – stroke, breast cancer and weight management. No reservations are needed.
Ladies’ Night Out will be held in the northwest corner of the mall at Entrance H near Shoppers World and Burlington Coat Factory. The health fair begins at 6 p.m. with physicians, nurses and other medical experts from Vista on hand to talk with women and offer various kinds of health information primarily on stroke, breast cancer and weight management.
The fashion show will begin at 7:30 on the Gurnee Mills stage adjacent to the health fair. A number of leading women’s apparel retailers from the mall will be showing selections from their newest spring/summer fashions. A variety of seasonal collections will be featured for women in their mid-20s and up. As with the health fair, the fashion show is free and open to the public.
Gift bags with assorted mall coupons for discounts and special offers will be given to the first 50 women who attend (one per attendee). In addition, Vista will provide catered appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages free of charge.
“We’re very excited to host this event at Gurnee Mills as a way to reach a number of women in the community,” said Julie Gruber, RN, Neuroscience Program Coordinator at Vista. “Stroke, breast cancer and weight management are all related issues that can affect women of just about any age. So we hope to bring out as many women as possible to share some important information with them, and to give them a chance to have fun without having to worry about kids, work or other obligations for an evening.”
