Lake Park Golf Course announces new membership program
Des Plaines Park District announced a new Lake Park Golf Course membership, as part of the ongoing Recreation Relief Plan for 2012. Resident golfers pay a flat rate of $300 for a membership for the season; seniors, over 60 years old, and youth golfers under 18, pay $275.
“The cost savings per person is dependent on how often a golfer plays at Lake Park,” said Brian Panek, manager of golf and facilities.
The Lake Park Golf Course is open approximately 32 weeks a year, 8 a.m. until dusk through May, and 7 a.m. until dusk June through October. Residents pay $9 during the week and $10 on the weekend for 18 holes.
“An average golfer plays twice a week,” said Panek, “at that rate, the savings is about $275 for the season. For seniors who play daily, the savings is even greater.”
Lake Park Golf course is an 18-hole, par-3 course, with holes ranging from 50 to 115 yards.
“This is a great place for everyone to learn how to play golf,” said Panek, “especially youth.”
For more that five years, the Des Plaines Park District has participated in the Sticks for Kids program which provides clubs at no cost to young golfers. “Whether for camp, lessons, or to play a round of golf, the clubs are free,” he said. “We know that parents are cost conscious, especially during the summer. The combination of the flat fee membership, and the Sticks for Kids program provides a safe place for kids to get active and enjoy a sport they can play their whole life,” Panek said, “while still staying within their budget.”
