Glendale Heights Women Wins Prestigious Magnet Award

Michelle Violet, of Glendale Heights, is a secretary in the Neuroscience Department at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, and the recent winner of an award from the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) prestigious Magnet Recognition Program. Magnet Recognition Awards are the highest honor presented by the ANCC.

Michelle receives the care she provided to an elderly man who was struggling to change his tire on the Expressway. Instead of driving past, Michelle took the time to talk to the man, help him to calm down, and call for help. It soon became clear to Michelle that the man had dementia, but she was able to help him remain calm throughout the ordeal. When his family arrived, Michelle offered them several resources available to adults with dementia at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and provided them with her phone number in case they needed assistance.
