All Americans should stand for pledge

“Please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.”

These are the words that millions of American students have heard every day since they started kindergarten, yet not everyone has the respect to stand up.

This issue was brought to my attention when I entered high school. During the morning announcements, some people just sit in their seats and continue what they are doing without even acknowledging the pledge. High school students are more than mature enough to understand the importance of our country’s pledge, and we should have the decency and respect to stand. Having some students not stand for the pledge doesn’t sound like a huge problem at first, but in reality it is.

If students won’t even take the time to do this, then it leads me to believe that many children and high school students do not understand the principles our country holds dear and the hardships it’s been through, not to mention that every day we have our Armed Forces protecting our country so that ordinary people can go about their daily lives.

Standing for the pledge is just a small act that should be done by every American. When we stand for the pledge, it shows that we truly believe in liberty and justice for all. After all, we are one nation under God that stands together.
