Mundelein Lights choir takes first in showcase

Mundelein High School's Mundelein Lights, an all-female show choir, took the first place prize in Hersey High School's Chicagoland Showcase recently.

They took the title from defending unisex champion Company from Prospect High School in Mount Prospect. Company took second place and Mundelein's SoundFX placed third. In separate competition, Mundelein's Master Singers placed third behind Jefferson High School of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Buffalo Grove High School's Concert Choir.

The MHS Sound, Lights, SoundFX and Master Singers will compete for the final time this season on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17, in LaCrosse, Wis., at the Grand River National Choral Invitational. John Neubauer and Cory Thompson direct the MHS vocal groups.
