One injured in Crystal Lake crash
Alcohol is suspected to have played a part in the crash of a car driven by a Lake in the Hills woman near Crystal Lake Monday evening, police said.
McHenry County Sheriff officials said rescuers were called to the scene of the crash in the 11200 block of Route 176 near Route 47 at 6:40 p.m. Monday, authorities said in a news release early Tuesday.
The investigation showed a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria was heading west on Route 176 when it left the north side of the roadway for unknown reasons and struck multiple trees.
Holly M. Pfeil, 41, of Lake in the Hills, the driver of the car, was taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was listed in critical condition.
Officials said front air bags deployed but Pfeil was not wearing a seat belt.
The news release also says that alcohol is suspected to be a factor of the crash.
The traffic crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
