Citizens for Conservation Presents Native Pollinators

What do tomatoes, peppers, and cranberries have in common? They are among the many crops that are “buzz pollinated” by our native bumblebees. Citizens for Conservation is excited to welcome native bee specialist Jennifer Hopwood from Michigan on March 24 for a very important program about native pollinators, “Native Bees: give them a home in your yard.”

Jennifer is Midwest Pollinator Outreach Coordinator with the Xerces Society, a nationally recognized organization that has been at the forefront of invertebrate protection for forty years. Pollinators are crucial for many food crops and they play a surprisingly vital role in most ecosystems.

Don't miss this program about the fascinating native bees, the important contributions they make, and steps you can take to conserve them. After the meeting, you will have the opportunity to buy one of Xerces Society's excellent pollinator books at a discounted rate.

The program will be held in the main floor meeting room of the Barrington Area Library; doors will open at 9:30 a.m. for coffee, conversation, handouts, and displays. Program begins at 10:00. CFC members attend free; nonmembers are $10. Please pay at the door. RVSP by calling CFC at 847-382-SAVE (7283) or e-mail cfc@citizensforconservation.org. Please leave a phone number or e-mail address in case we need to reach you.
