Mt. Prospect hospital volunteer ‘retires’ at 91

Dorothy Bott of Mount Prospect was already 60 years old when she began volunteering at Advocate Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge 31 years ago.

In February she “retired” from her volunteer work with a ceremony at the hospital attended by hospital associates and patients.

Bott began her volunteer career by founding the puppy program at the hospital, which for years brought in puppies for the children to play with while they were in the hospital.

In the years since then, puppies have been supplanted by trained therapy dogs.
