Vista CEO Appointed to Lewis University Board

Barbara J. Martin, President & CEO of Vista Health System, is among the most recent appointments to the Board of Trustees of Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Martin is an alumna of Lewis where she earned both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Business Administration.

“It is with great honor and excitement that I have accepted a position on the Board of Trustees with my alma mater, Lewis University” said Martin. “I look forward to using my expertise in healthcare administration to grow and support the university in numerous ways.”

Dedicated to the mission of Lewis University, the Board of Trustees consists of 36 men and women who bring to the University a wide range of experience in diverse fields. The Board includes six members of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, sponsors of Lewis University, as well as 18 Trustees, including Martin, who are alumni of Lewis University.

Lewis University is a Catholic institution that offers distinctive undergraduate and graduate programs to nearly 6,500 students. It is the ninth largest private not-for-profit university in Illinois and has multiple campus locations. Its curriculum includes online degree programs and a variety of formats that provide accessibility and convenience to a growing student population. Lewis has been nationally recognized by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report.

Martin has served as President and CEO of Vista Health System since 2006 and has led the organization through a revitalization to expand its services to the people of Lake County and the northern suburbs. Vista is based in Waukegan where it operates two hospitals – Vista Medical Center East and Vista Medical Center West – with more than 400 licensed beds. Vista's presence throughout Lake County includes a growing campus in Lindenhurst, along with a number physician practice offices and several satellite locations that provide diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation services. Vista has a workforce of some 1,200 employees and 350 physicians.
