Curry’s return helps VH bounce back
Stephen Curry, who came back after a two-game absence due to injury, scored 22 points and led Vernon Hills’ boys basketball team past visiting Chicagoland Jewish Academy 76-51 Tuesday night.
Darren Hoveydai scored 13 points and Nate Rathod added 12.
Vernon Hills improved its record to 12-9.
Mundelein 71, Zion-Benton 63: Robert Knar earned a double-double, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, as Mundelein improved its record to 20-6, including 7-3 in the North Suburban Lake, while avenging last week’s home loss to the Zee-Bees.
The Mustangs’ key performers also included Sean O’Brien, who had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Chino Ebube also scored 12 points, and Nate Brune added 10.
Leading Zion-Benton was Milik Yarbrough, who also had a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He also added 5 assists. Devante Nicks scored 13 points, and Richard Ray added 10 points.
Carmel 71, Nazareth 50: Three Corsairs scored in double digits at home.
Brandon Motzel scored 19 points, Joe Molloy had 15 points and Andy Kantor added 10 for Carmel (8-12), which snapped a four-game losing streak with the East Suburban Catholic Conference win.
