Mundelein show choir takes first in contest

The Mundelein Lights show choir took first place in a competition held in Milton, Wis., recently. Six choirs from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois were part of the event. The Lights performed music selections of Burt Bacharach and a finale from the musical “Dreamgirls.”

The Mundelein Sound advanced to the finals of the competition and took fourth place. Both groups traveled with their crew and show choir band.

Sound, Lights and SoundFX will present a concert at MHS 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Mundelein High School Auditorium, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. The groups will perform music in preparation for their performance at the Manteno Main Event Show Choir Invitational to be held Saturday, Feb. 11. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door.

John Neubauer and Cory Thompson are the vocal directors at MHS.
