Fox Valley Rep and Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice collect over $4,300 in donations from theater patrons
Fox Valley Repertory's patrons outdid themselves again with an amazing outpouring of generosity. During Fox Valley Rep's holiday production of It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Fox Valley Repertory partnered with the Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice of Geneva to collect donations to help enhance the quality of life for those with life threatening illnesses and the bereaved, as well as help the FVR Performing Arts Academy raise funds.
Thousands of patrons came to Fox Valley Rep to celebrate the classic, fateful story about life, love, family and redemption in the style of a 1940s radio-style play, and had a chance to contribute to this cause after the show. People responded in a big way by donating over $4,364 in total, which was split 50/50 to both nonprofit organizations.
Currently the largest volunteer hospice in the world and having served over 15,000 patients and their famlies, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice (FVVH) aims to provide care to the whole person and entire family that are affected by a life threatening illness or the loss of a loved one. FVVH provides an avenue for individuals to give back to their community. Volunteers are the heart of Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice. Nearly 400 active volunteers work directly with their staff to provide support to hospice patients and their families as well as grief support to the bereaved.
“Hospice is an invaluable, compassionate service that has personally helped my family when we needed it most,” says Fox Valley Rep Artistic Director John Gawlik. “I am very proud to have partnered with this organization.”
“As a volunteer hospice, we receive no state or federal funding, Medicare or insurance payments, says FVVH Development Director Kathy Melone. “This fundraiser significantly helped us provide services to those in need within the community, free of charge.”
