Field hockey

Stevenson has named alumnus Laura Camastro its head field hockey coach. She replaces Janette Eichfeld, who led the program from 2003-2011.

Camastro, a 2001 Stevenson graduate, played on the Patriot varsity for four years. She has been an assistant coach in the Stevenson field hockey and girls lacrosse programs since 2007. She oversaw the conditioning programs for all levels in both sports, and also led the summer field hockey camp through the school’s Patriot Recreation Education Program (PREP).

“I’m ecstatic for this opportunity,” Camastro said. “Field hockey is undoubtedly gaining popularity in our area, so this is a perfect time for me to step in and help grow the Stevenson program the best I can. I’m also looking forward to coaching a varsity team and helping elevate our already talented players to the next level.”

Camastro also has served as an assistant coach with Windy City Field Hockey for the past two years.

“Laura has great passion for the field hockey program, dating back to her days on the Stevenson varsity,” athletic director Trish Betthauser said. “She has a great desire to develop not only our program, but also youth programs in the area. We are excited about elevating Laura to the head coaching position.”

Softball

Antioch senior catch Amber Mysliewiec has signed a letter of intent to play for Judson University in Elgin next year. She has been the Sequoits’ starting catcher the last two years and earned all-area honors last spring.
