Cops: Man sent explicit messages to 3 Crystal Lake girls

An 19-year-old man has been charged after sending sexual text messages to a 13-year-old Crystal Lake girl in an effort to meet with her, according to police.

A Crystal Lake resident called police after learning his daughter had been receiving the harassing cellphone text and Facebook messages from Denzel Hayes of Woodstock, according to Authorities.

After receiving the call on Nov. 27, a police investigation revealed Hayes, who lives in the 500 block of Leah Lane in Woodstock, had also sent sexually explicit messages to two other Crystal Lake juveniles, police said.

Police arrested Hayes at the Woodstock Library on Dec. 27 at 12:24 p.m. He was charged with indecent solicitation of a child under 13, indecent solicitation of a child who was 13 with a five-year age difference, and one count of solicitation to meet with a child, according to authorities.

Police continued to investigate Hayes after the Dec. 27 arrest, and discovered he had knowingly solicited and was in possession of pornographic photos of a child under the age of 13.

On Jan. 3, Hayes was charged with six counts of aggravated child pornography, while he remained in custody in lieu of $40,000 on the original charges.

A judge set the additional bond at $100,000, with the total for all charges at $143,000, according to police.

Hayes is due in court on Friday, Jan. 6.
