Mundelein students make beautiful music together

Nine student members of the Mundelein High School music department were selected to represent the school at the Illinois Music Educators’ district festivals. Auditions took place in early October and students auditioned against hundreds of other students in this highly selective process.

Two of the students were selected to participate in the choir at the Nov. 12 festival at New Trier High School. They are Caitlyn Cappuccilli, senior, alto II and Tyler Saunders, senior, bass II. Participants in the band at the same festival were Joel Gitskin, senior, bass clarinet; Harrison Richards, junior, bass clarinet; Wes Farmer, freshman, euphonium; and Andrew Westgate, junior, tuba. The Jazz Festival was held at Evanston Township High School on the same day. Selected to represent MHS at that festival were Tyler Sierzega, senior, alto saxophone; Ryan Eifert, sophomore, tenor saxophone; Walter Kasmer, sophomore, trumpet; and Joel Gitskin, senior, guitar.

Adam Gohr and Matt Farmer are the instrumental music directors at MHS. John Neubauer and Cory Thompson are the vocal music directors.
