Annual Woodstock Christmas Guitar Night returns
Submitted by Woodstock Opera House
Four acclaimed guitarists will grace the stage at the Woodstock Opera House for Ed Hall’s 16th annual Woodstock Christmas Guitar Night at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23. Entertaining arrangements for the guitar will be performed as well as popular holiday favorites.
Performing will be Woody Mann from New York City, N.Y., Mann blurs the lines between jazz, blues, classical, and world music creating his own sound in the process. His wizardry on the fret board is matched by his ability to convey deep feelings with his songs — creating moods that incite, delight, or simply soothe. Jeff Friedlander from Denver, Colo. is a fingerstyle champion from contests in Colorado and Florida and a noted songwriter and vocalist. Friedlander’s expertise of arranging unique music from the 1960s-’70s is widely noted. Don Alder from Vancouver, British Columbia is a fingerstyle guitarist whose playing has often been called wild and wicked acoustic guitar playing. The Canadian claims the 2007 national fingerstyle guitar championship and winner of the best original instrumental composition at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kan. National fingerstyle guitar champion Ed Hall from Harvard also will perform unusual arrangements for fingerstyle guitar and serve as your host.
The Woodstock Opera House is at 121 Van Buren St. in Woodstock. Tickets for Ed Hall’s Woodstock Christmas Guitar Night are available at the Opera House box office or online at woodstockoperahouse.com. For more information, call (815) 338-5300.
