Pizza pub to replace Hackney’s in Wheeling

A new pizza restaurant will be coming to the vacant former Hackney’s building on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling next spring.

D’Agostino’s Pizza, which has four locations around Chicago, will open its newest location in Wheeling next spring in the former Hackney’s building, 241 S. Milwaukee Ave.

The 10,679-square-foot building has been empty since Hackney’s closed April 1, but was sold to Jeff D’Agostino in November, according to a news release from Kudan Group, a restaurant transactions group in Chicago that managed the sale.

The building sits on more than two acres of land and the location is undergoing some renovations before the planned opening in spring 2012.

D’Agostino’s Pizza is a family restaurant that first opened in 1968 and has become known for its thin crust pizza. The other locations serve pizza, pasta and other Italian entrees for dine in, carry out, catering and delivery.

The other locations are in the Wrigleyville and River West neighborhoods in Chicago, and in the suburbs of Park Ridge and Glenview.
