Mundelein edges Highland Park

Mundelein’s girls basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak, beating Highland Park 47-41 in their own tournament Tuesday night.

Molly Rosenow led the Mustangs (5-8, 2-1) in scoring with 14 points, and teammate Taylor Davis added 13.

The second quarter was the difference, as the Mustangs outscored the Giants 16-8 to lead 28-23 at halftime.

Mundelein will next play Vernon Hills at 9 a.m. Thursday for fifth place.

Vernon Hills 49, Lake Park 36: At Mundelein, Sydney Smith led the Cougars, scoring 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and grabbing 5 rebounds.

Meri Bennett-Swanson finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Alina Lehocky added 8 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, and Lauren Webb had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Abby Springer dished out 8 assists

Vernon Hills improved to 12-2 overall and 2-1 in the tournament.
