Maine West tops Maine East

Maine West did not have a torrid offensive start in Friday night's Central Suburban North boys basketball game with visiting Maine East.

The Warriors (4-3, 2-0) didn't need one as they allowed only 1 first-quarter point and went on to a 54-43 win at Rider Gym in Des Plaines.

Maine West led 8-1 after a quarter, 23-11 at halftime and 34-23 after three. Conor Hart scored 18 points on 7-for-14 shooting and Kevin Garcia added 15 points on 7-for-15 shooting.

Hinsdale South 54, Leyden 47: Senior Alex Herrera scored 18 points for Leyden (4-3, 1-1) in the West Suburban Gold loss at Farina Fieldhouse in Franklin Park.

Mooseheart 42, Christian Liberty 28: Christian Liberty (3-3) had a 17-13 advantage in the middle quarters but Mooseheart led 14-5 after one and broke away with a 15-6 fourth at Grace Gym in Arlington Heights. Mike Hennek led the Crusaders with 12 points.
