Complete game for Rolling Meadows
Rolling Meadows was looking for four wins in one in Friday’s Mid-Suburban East girls basketball opener at Buffalo Grove.
The Mustangs (4-3) got what they were looking for as they pulled away to a 60-42 victory.
“The effort, energy and intensity was there for all four quarters,” said Meadows coach Todd Hatfield.
“I would say this was probably our best game since Stevenson,” Meadows senior Ann Marie Lynch said of a 68-63 double-overtime win in the season opener. “Before the game coach Hatfield said we need to win all four quarters. This is the first time we did it all year.”
Sophomore Alexis Glasgow had a game-high 22 points and hit four 3-pointers as Meadows extended a 17-12 lead after a quarter to 32-18 at halftime and 50-27 after three. Jackie Kemph scored 13 points and Lynch added 10 points.
“We were kind of in a funk almost at the (Fremd)-Lake Zurich tourney,” Lynch said. “Five of the six teams we played were ranked and it was tough, but it’s still no excuse losing to them.”
Junior Bailey North scored 16 points to lead BG (1-6).
“Rolling Meadows shoots the ball very well and we didn’t handle the ball very well,” said BG coach Pat Dudle. “That’s a recipe for a loss. We’re going through some growing pains but we have potential.”
