Scouting report: Ennis, who starred at St. Francis and was the 1990-91 Daily Herald All-Area Captain, takes over Rams basketball after spending 10 years as a volleyball assistant. Her first order of business? Energizing a program that could use a good dose of enthusiasm. Ennis is encouraged by the 44 girls who came out for basketball 22 of them freshmen which allows Glenbard East to field four teams. Point guard Angst, second on the team in scoring and the assist leader last year, will miss the first couple weeks with shin splints left over from cross country. The feisty, smart Donovan will take Angst's place for the time being. Ennis likes the aggressiveness of Hansen and Leifheit, two of a rich freshman class. Symonds and Joiner are perhaps the poster children for the commitment Ennis hopes to get from her players. "We want to get kids excited to play basketball," Ennis said.
