Rolling Meadows football delivers food for those in need

According to head coach of the varsity football team at Rolling Meadows High School, Matt Mishler, his players recently spent a Saturday morning following a “hard-fought win,” giving back to the community by helping families in need.

Each football player had previously delivered 15 fliers to homes in their individual neighborhoods, requesting donations of nonperishable items to assist those less fortunate, under the auspices of Faith Community Homes. The agency helps low-income working families with school-age children, who live or work in Arlington Heights, manage their housing and life challenges with mentoring and financial support. The players returned on the appointed day to collect the food, which was then delivered to a church in Arlington Heights where they sorted and packaged it.

“Through a freshman parent,” said coach Mishler, “I was made aware of Faith Community Homes. The guys brought in a ton of food for these families and the people at FCH were very impressed and grateful.”

Six local families were each presented with a large food donation as a result of the team’s service project.
