Elgin Genealogical Society to meet Nov. 17

Elgin Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 in the first-floor meeting room of Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

Following a brief meeting, Mike Karsen will present " You Can Pick Your Relatives."

He puts a novel twist on America's rapidly growing hobby of genealogy to connect with our past by placing a major emphasis on connecting or re-connecting with living relatives around the world.

By expanding the number of your known relatives, you can make new friends and thus "you CAN pick your relativies!"

Besides being a member of two professional speakers' groups, Mike is currently President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois. He speaks on family legacy topics locally and nationally, presents conference programs, is a Newberry Library and Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies faculty member.

All are welcome. For information, visit the Elgin Genealogical Society website, www.elginroots.com.
