District 214 award recognizes partnership with Motorola

Northwest Suburban High School District 214 is recognizing its long-standing partnership with Motorola with a newly created award.

The school board presented Matthew Blakely, executive director of the Motorola Solutions Foundation, with the first Township High School District 214 Motorola Solutions School-Business-Community Partnership Award.

Blakely won the award for his support of the district’s WildStang FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Team.

As a WildStang sponsor since its inception 17 years ago, Motorola has provided financial and educational support. The company has donated more than $600,000 and mentored students from Rolling Meadows, Wheeling, and Prospect high schools

As the largest team in Illinois, WildStang has won three world championships, two second place awards, the Chairman’s Award for Best Overall Team and nine regional championships.

The new award will be presented periodically to an individual or organization that has shown a high level of commitment to District 214, its schools or programs.
