Mead teams with Whole Foods to support the Food Pantry

The students and staff of Mead Junior High School have partnered with the Elk Grove and Schaumburg Hoffman Estates Rotaries along with District 54 schools to create a food pantry that will provide food to District 54 families in need.

As part of that initiative, Mead Junior High School was chosen to participate in one of Whole Foods Community Giving opportunities. Mead is having a “5% Day” on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at the Schaumburg store located at 750 N. Martingale Road. Five percent of that day's total net sales will be donated to Mead to help fund the Food Pantry.

Mead staff members along with local Rotarians will be present throughout the day at Whole Foods from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to answer any questions and promote the Food Pantry.

Anyone who cannot attend the 5% Day at Whole Foods, but would like to support the Food Pantry with a monetary donation can send cash or a check (made payable to Mead Junior High, Food Pantry in the memo line) to 1765 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village, Ill. 60007.

For more information, call school social workers Melinda Keyes or Bill Rosewell at (847) 357-6000.
