20 Stevenson music students earn All-District Honors

Twenty Stevenson High School music students have been selected to perform at Illinois Music Educators Association District 7 Senior Festivals in November, and will have the opportunity to be chosen for the 2012 Illinois Music Education Conference in January.

More than 1,000 students around northeast Illinois auditioned for IMEA district ensembles. Students selected for the District 7 festivals auditioned at various school sites, including Stevenson, during the first half of October. Stevenson's District 7 selections are:

District 7 Band: Chang-Yoon Doh (clarinet), Eric Hamilton (clarinet), William Hyun (Euphonium), Sara Lee (flute) and Kevin Rho (clarinet).

District 7 Orchestra: Raymon Cao (cello), Jonathan Chang (viola), Janet Cheng (violin), Justin Doong (violin), Saachi Kuwayama (violin), Jeanne Lee (violin) and Brian Lin (cello).

District 7 Chorus: Mikey Barker (tenor), Michelle Hou (soprano), Nick Olson (bass), David Sager (bass), Alex Shaindlin (bass), Austin Vitaliano (bass) and Ellen Zhou (soprano).

District 7 Jazz Festival: Matt Collera (tenor sax).

The District 7 Band, Choral and Orchestra Festival will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at New Trier High School. The District 7 Jazz Festival will take place Saturday, Nov. 19 at Evanston Township High School.
