The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce, Des Plaines History Center, Des Plaines Public Library and the Des Plaines Park District will host the annual Halloween Hoopla on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The “spooktacular” day begins at 10 a.m. with a costume parade for kids all around Metropolitan Square, followed by safe trick-or-treating at participating businesses in Des Plaines.

Children in the parade will receive a special trick-or-treat bag and prize.

From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., the History Center will present its annual Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration with activities including sugar skull painting and decorating.

The Des Plaines Park District will sponsor a free craft for kids from 1-3 p.m. at the Des Plaines Public Library. Then, kids and families can experience the hair-raising antics of the wild and wacky magician, Randy Bernstein, at 3 p.m. at the library.

For information about the event, call (847) 391-5700 or visit DpParks.org.
