Vista Surgery Center hosts successful Fall Fest

The attraction of free screenings and health information combined with open trick or treating for kids drew more than 500 adults and kids on Sunday to the annual Trick or Treat Fall Family Health Fest at the Vista Surgery Center in Lindenhurst.

Stations were set up throughout the center to provide fun and helpful information about the important services provided by Vista Health System. Kids in all kinds of costumes followed the station route to fill up their bags with goodies, get a free teddy bear or have a glass of apple cider to wash down a giant Halloween cookie. Free blood pressure and cholesterol screenings were provided to some 75 adults who began lining up before the two-hour event started at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, 25 people took advantage of a drive-through station in front of the center for flu shots.

“We enjoy hosting this event every year since it's a great opportunity to bring adults and kids into our Lindenhurst Surgery Center to give them an idea of what we provide at Vista,” said Barbara Martin, Vista's President and Chief Executive Officer. “Offering free screenings and health information is an important part of our service to the communities of Lake County. On top of that, it's fun for us to see all of the children come through in their wonderful costumes. It's a nice outing for the whole family.”

Vista's Lindenhurst campus is located at 1050 Red Oak Lane on the south side of Grand Avenue. The campus is home to the new, full-service Lindenhurst Freestanding Emergency Center that opened in July. In addition, construction is underway for the 40,000-square-foot Vista Medical Office Building on the portion of the property that fronts Grand. Completion with occupancy is expected for early 2012.
