'Dracula: The Musical' promotes Oct. 19 blood drive

Who knows better than a vampire about the life-giving qualities of blood?

Recognizing the value of this precious commodity, the cast of "Dracula: The Musical" encourages blood donors to visit the Oct. 19 community blood drive from 2-8 p.m. in Meeting Room C at the Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood St.

The Palatine community blood drive is being sponsored locally by the Palatine Board of Health and Medical Reserve Corps.

"Dracula: The Musical" is in the midst of a limited five weekend run through Nov. 6, at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St. in Palatine. It is the Midwest premiere of the musical telling of the vampire legend by celebrated composer Frank Wildhorn, and is a joint production of Theatre Nebula and Music on Stage. The two companies, which are both recent recipients of the Illinois Theatre Association's Excellence in Theatre award, previously came together to produce last season's sellout hit Jesus Christ Superstar.

"Dracula" will be presented Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

During upcoming performances, prospective blood donors can make appointments for the village drive. In turn, "Dracula: The Musical" will be part of several upcoming blood drives in the area, including an offer to presenting blood donors of a $2 discount off the price of Dracula admission.

Tickets are currently on sale through the Cutting Hall Box Office, 150 E. Wood Street in Palatine: (847) 202-5222, or online by visiting draculathemusical.net.

Advance ticket sales are $20 for reserved seating, while ‘Silver Citizens' (age 62 and older) are $17 and children (12 and under) are $18. Add $2 if purchased at the door. Groups of 10 or more pay $17 a ticket.

A dinner package is also available for only $17 added on to your ticket price in conjunction with Vince's Italian Restaurant in Palatine.

For more information on the blood drive, or to schedule your appointment, call (877) 543-3768 or register online at www.lifesource.org. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
