SOUTH ELGIN LIONS CLUB TO COLLECT FOOD ITEMS DURING THE AUTUMN FEST CARNIVAL THIS WEEKEND

The South Elgin Lions will be collecting nonperishable food items or cash donations during it's Autumn Fest Carnival starting this Thursday, September 29th through Sunday, October 2nd. All food items and/or cash donations collected will be used for our yearly Holiday Food Basket Project and to support the South Elgin Food Pantry. The Lions have assisted approximately 225 South Elgin families, which consisted of distributed approximately 6.75 tons of food and received over $7,000 in donations and toys each year since 2009. By combining these two fundraisers, the Club is hoping the carnival will be successful and raise additional funds to support the South Elgin Lions club and their various projects along with kicking off the Holiday Food Basket project that usually takes place around the second week of December.

The Carnival is at the Caputo's Fresh Markets located at the corner of Silver Glen and Randall Road in South Elgin and will be open on Thursday from 6 pm to 10 pm with an unlimited ride special for $20 that night; on Friday from 6 pm to 11pm, Saturday from 1 pm to 11 pm with an unlimited ride special for $20 from 1 pm to 4 pm and on Sunday from 1 pm to closing with an unlimited ride special for $20 from 1 pm to 4 pm

The South Elgin Lions Club is constantly promoting diabetes awareness and provides hearing tests and hearing aids to those in financial need. This Club keeps very active in the community by participating in South Elgin River Fest, Candy Day, hosting Bingo every Saturday night and several fundraisers throughout the year. With the money raised, our club has been able to make donations to South Elgin families in need, South Elgin Parks and Recreation's FUNdation, Holiday Food Baskets, Operation Jingle Bells, South Elgin Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Little Angels Nursing Home for severely disabled children, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 14 Shop With a Cop, South Elgin Youth Sports Teams, Special Olympics, Leader Dogs for the Blind, and many others.
