Dist. 158 Parent-Tot Center offers parenting series

Submitted by Huntley Unit District 158

Parent-Tot Center Director Carla Elam recently announced a six-week parenting series, “Love and Logic,” available to all Huntley Unit District 158 residents.

The class will be led by Kristin Schmidt, a licensed social worker who has been teaching the course to parents for the past 12 years.

It is a system that encourages parenting with love, letting natural consequences do the teaching and giving lots of choices. It is based on the books and research by Jim Fay, Charles Fay and Foster Cline.

This class is for parents who can commit to the full six weeks and is open to Parent Tot parents and all District 158 residents.

The cost for a PT parent is $10; $25 for the non-PT parent, which covers the cost of the book and the class; Non-PT couple is $35. The fee is due the night of the first class, cash only.

Classes will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 4 to Nov. 8, at the Parent Tot Center, at Chesak Elementary School, 10910 Reed Road in Lake in the Hills. Registration is required, as space is limited.

To attend this class, email Carla Elam at celam@district158.org.
