Grayslake North marching festival

Grayslake North High School plans to host an inaugural marching band festival. The Marching Knights will host the event and launch its 2011-12 competitive season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Bands from Grayslake Central High School, Rolling Meadows High School and Dwight D. Eisenhower High School will join Grayslake North on its home field at 1925 North Route 83, Grayslake. Candace Edstrand, who directs the Marching Knights, said schools will compete for places and individual awards (best percussion, winds, auxiliary, etc.), while performing halftime shows. In case of rain, the festival and performances will occur in a nearby field house. The public is invited to attend. Parking is free, the entrance fee is $5 per person and concessions will be available.
