Some D26 parents seek signatures for vote of no confidence in leaders

Fed up with what they call policy violations and questionable decision making, some Cary Elementary District 26 parents want to let the administration and board members know that they have no confidence in their leadership.

The group, District 26 Parents With A Voice, is moving from cyberspace to the Algonquin Township Building, 3702 Route 14, Crystal Lake, for its first meeting from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Monday. The group will discuss concerns regarding current negotiations between the board and union, the lack of financial transparency and policy violations, said Angela Alfe, a group member.

“We are straying away from just talking and we’re starting to take action on the things that we disagree with the board and administration on,” Alfe said. “Monday’s meeting is for people to come in and learn more and ask questions.”

In addition, Alfe said the group will collect signatures for a petition demonstrating a vote of no confidence in district leaders.

“We know the petition won’t remove the board, but we want to show them that there are a lot of people who are not happy with the state of affairs,” Alfe said. “The more people who get their voices heard, the less we will be shooed away as inconsequential.”
