$100,000 bail for Palatine man charged with aggravated DUI

A Cook County judge set bail at $100,000 for a 35-year-old Palatine man charged with aggravated DUI after police say he struck another vehicle with his car shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday on Algonquin Road between Arbor Drive and Frontage Road.

Noe Hernandez is accused of turning into the lane of an oncoming car, striking it head on, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Walsh during Hernandez’s bond hearing Monday in Rolling Meadows.

The two passengers in that car were unhurt, Walsh said. However, Hernandez’s passenger suffered a dislocated hip and underwent surgery Monday, Walsh said.

Walsh said Hernandez, of the 1500 block of Crimson Lane, fled the scene but was located by Schaumburg police soon after.

Hernandez had a 2000 conviction for battery, for which he received conditional discharge, Walsh said. He also had an outstanding warrant for a violation for an order of protection, she said.

Hernandez must post 10 percent of the bail to secure his release from custody. He next appears in court Aug. 19.
