Executive Networking Group holds 20th anniversary celebration
The Executive Networking Group of Greater Chicago (ENG), a nonprofit organization that provides resources for professionals in transition, recently held a special 20th Anniversary Celebration for area members and alumni. This year's event featured networking opportunities for job-seekers, a volunteer awards presentation, and a keynote speech on new trends in pro bono volunteering during transition by Chris Smith of HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC).
Many of the members of ENG take on skills-based volunteer projects at area nonprofits while in transition. These projects allow the volunteers to continue using their professional skills while also making a tremendous impact on nonprofits in the community. Tom Gaynor, Peter Sturdivant and Tom Southall were winners of the organization's first annual Impact Awards, recognizing volunteers who have made significant contributions to ENG, to its members, and to the community.
“HandsOn Suburban Chicago gets kudos for redefining the volunteer paradigm by identifying nonprofits with specific goals, defined projects and professional consulting needs. ENG is delighted that its members, who are all in job transition, are 100% committed to support the HOSC efforts through skills-based volunteerism,” said Chris Campbell, Executive Director of ENG.
Chris Smith, Chief Operating Officer of HandsOn Suburban Chicago, also praised the contributions of ENG members on area nonprofits. “We have had over 50 ENG members who have been a great resource to our organization and the community. They provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in pro bono consulting services that many nonprofits in the area couldn't otherwise afford.”
