U.S. News ranks Advocate Condell one of the best hospitals in the Chicago area

Libertyville -- Recognized as a leader in patient safety, Advocate Condell Medical Center has been ranked as one of the best hospitals in the Chicago Metro Area in U.S. News Media & World Report's 2011-12 Best Hospitals most recent rankings.

Advocate Condell achieved superior results in patient safety, demonstrating commitment to reducing accidents and medical mistakes. U.S. News also noted that Condell performed at a high level in two adult specialties, nephrology and urology.

"Providing positive health outcomes and patient safety are our primary concerns," said Advocate Condell president Ann Errichetti, M.D., M.B.A. "This recognition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to bringing the highest quality of care for our patients. We are honored and pleased to be recognized as a healthcare leader in our community."

Covering 94 metro areas in the U.S., the regional hospital rankings complement the national rankings by including hospitals with solid performance nearly at the level of nationally ranked institutions.

The core mission of Best Hospitals is to help guide patients who need an especially high level of care because of a difficult surgery, a challenging condition, or added risk because of other health problems or age.

"These are referral centers where other hospitals send their sickest patients," said Avery Comarow, U.S. News Health Rankings Editor. "Hospitals like these are ones you or those close to you should consider when the stakes are high."
