Palatine HS choir cruises to major win

The Palatine High School choir won the 2010-2011 Cruise Festival Overall Grand Championship Award for Concert Choir Class AAA by Music Festivals, the national sponsor of the competition.

Under the direction of Palatine High School Music Teacher Steve Sivak, the PHS Choir participated in the Caribbean Cruise Festival onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s “Monarch of the Seas” Dec. 27-31, 2010.

In addition to earning a Superior rating, the choir also was entered into competition against other choirs that participated in one of more than 50 other Cruise Festivals, which took place from December 2010 to June 2011.

After the conclusion of the final festival, all scores were combined to determine the overall highest scoring groups in each class and category from all festivals.

This award signifies the highest score overall in this category from all of the 2010-2011 Cruise Festivals.
