Addison Parks offers Adult Summer Leisure Trips

Active adults aged 50 or better are invited to take a midweek day-trip with the Addison Park District this summer. June and July trips are scheduled to Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, Hardy's Reindeer Ranch in Rantoul and a luxurious tour of the Lighthouse Museum and Barker Mansion Tour.

Ranked one of the finest Japanese Gardens in the world, Anderson Japanese Gardens touches the soul of its guests. Enjoy strolling through a 14 acre garden graced with flowers, stone lanterns, koi ponds and a 50-foot tall waterfall. Guests are invited to experience the garden at their own pace to fully appreciate a time for reflection and serenity. After a tour on your own, guests will enjoy lunch at a traditional Hibachi restaurant where they will cook your meal right at the table. Transportation, garden tour and meal are included with the cost of this trip departing at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22 and returning to Addison at 5:00 p.m. This trip is available for $60 to Addison residents or $76 for non-residents. Hardy's Reindeer Ranch is a unique and fun tour destination in Rantoul, IL. Participants will have an up close and personal reindeer experience including a wagon ride through the farm, a visit to the gift shop and a rustic chuck wagon lunch with entertainment. Transportation, tour and meal are included with the cost of this trip departing at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13 and returning to Addison at 8:00 p.m. This trip is available for $68 to Addison residents or $86 for non-residents. A tour of The Barker Mansion and Lighthouse Museum in Michigan City makes for a fascinating study in “gracious living.” The turn-of-the-century mansion features rare woods and marble, beautiful one-of-a-kind tapestries, an impressive collection of books and paintings and a third-story ballroom where the Barkers entertained in royal fashion. The tour also includes the Old Lighthouse Museum and lunch at Redamak's, on your own. This trip departs on Monday, July 25 at 8:00 a.m. and returns to Addison at 5:00 p.m. It is available for $40 to Addison residents or $52 for non-residents.
