Man critically injured in Antioch motorcycle crash

A 32-year-old man was critically injured when he lost control of his motorcycle while traveling at a high rate of speed in Antioch late Sunday afternoon, according to police.

A Flight for Life helicopter was called to the scene on Grass Lake Road just east of Drexel Boulevard to airlift the man, but stormy weather forced emergency crews to take him by ambulance, officials said.

Witnesses told Lake County Sheriff’s deputies the man was speeding on Grass Lake Road and after losing control on a curve, he crashed and was sent across the roadway into a ditch.

Police said the man suffered major head injuries and numerous broken bones in the crash, which occurred at about 4:48 p.m. He was being treated at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville Sunday night.

Officials said the man did not have a motorcycle license and was also driving on a suspended driver’s license.
